Donor Stories
Quick facts:
“My husband and I live in Michigan with our three boys, Alex, 4, Charlie, 3 and Ben, 1. I work in human resources full time and am big into sports. In our free time, my family enjoys going to hockey games and playing basketball and hockey at home.
After Alex was born, I realized that I had an oversupply of breast milk, and I didn't want it to go to waste. I live in a very small town with few donation opportunities, so I researched options online and found Tiny Treasures. 4 1/2 years later, I am on my third donation journey and have donated 193 coolers containing over 93,000 ounces!
Sticking to a routine of pumping and cleaning pump parts for so long has been hard, but it's so worth it in the end. My goal is to reach the 110,000-ounce mark before the end of this journey. We are so thankful for the opportunity to donate through Tiny Treasures.
I love knowing that my excess milk is helping someone else's baby, and it's amazing to see the success stories of the premature babies who benefit from Prolacta’s products in the NICU. From a financial standpoint, compensation has allowed us to pay off debt and take family trips we otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford.
Donation has also made it possible for me to breastfeed each baby for over a year, which is longer than I otherwise would have. All three of my boys are thriving. Additionally, I firmly believe that the experience and knowledge I gained through pumping during my first donation journey made it possible for me to exclusively pump for Charlie, my middle son, when he spent time in the hospital with RSV when he was 10 weeks old, until he was strong enough to nurse again.
My advice for new donors:
Don't be too hard on yourself. Life happens and things get in the way of pumping. Just remember we are all doing something amazing! Every donation matters, no matter how big or small.”
