Donor Stories
Quick facts:
“I’m married with two sweet kids, Violet, 4, and Roland, 6 months. I’m your typical mom—I love baking with Violet and teaching my kids basic life skills.
My babies were miracles. Both were born prematurely, via emergency cesarean delivery, and my son, Roland, spent some time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
I had an oversupply with both babies and was so grateful that it was something I never needed to worry about. Being a mom is stressful enough but worrying about your baby growing big and strong is a terrible feeling, so I wanted to donate to those in need.
A friend of mine told me about Tiny Treasures Milk Bank, and I applied after Roland was born.
Donation is rewarding because I like being able to help others, and it helps me continue on my breastfeeding journey, knowing that I’m doing so with a little extra purpose.
So far, my biggest achievement has been making it to the 6-month mark! Now that I’ve made it this far, I know I can make it to one year. From a financial standpoint, donation has allowed my family to start a small savings account for emergencies and help ensure my kids have a nice Christmas.
My advice to new donors: Use your pumping time as YOU time. Binge a favorite TV show, read a good book, or find a podcast to listen to. It helps pass the time and makes you look forward to pumping.”
