Prematurity continues to be a leading cause of neonatal mortality in the US. Preventing bronchopulmonary dysplasia in VLBW infants is critical to long-term prognosis. The series of certified episodes discusses the role of lung microbiomes, inflammation, nutrition, weight gain and human milk as they relate to development and/or the prevention of BPD in VLBW infants.
