Meet Donor Elisabeth - How She Discovered the Love For Nursing

For Mother’s Day this year, we invited our donors to share their stories as mothers and donors. We hope their stories and tips can make a difference for other donor moms!

Elisabeth A's Donor Story

"Hello my name is Elisabeth! My husband's name is David and we have one baby (so far) together. We were blessed to have our daughter Isabella born on Christmas Day 2014. I'm just going to be real and say the biggest obstacle for me to have overcome as a mother would just be realizing that I'm a great mom.

No one is perfect and as parents we all make mistakes. I do not clean my house everyday, and let the dishes just pile up at times. I do crop and edit my FB life to seem perfect and glamorous. My child may be wearing the same clothes from yesterday... Or maybe since Monday.

But hey, you know what is amazing? My child is loved. Loved to the end of the world and back. She has nothing to want for and all her needs met. Her face beams with adoration every morning when she wakes up to see a fresh pumped bottle mommy brings her and gets to enjoy while being snuggled.

I am a great mom for taking that time to snuggle my baby instead of vacuuming at that moment. I knew before my daughter was born that I wanted to be a breast milk donor. I had no idea what my production would be like, this baby was my first. I just knew that no matter what, I wanted to make enough milk to share.

I did a lot of online research and read lots of books. You don't need supplements or every little fad milk booster out there to make it work. In the beginning, I pumped the opposite breast I was nursing from and then pumped both after.

I spent the first month after birth having a nursing vacation and just spent all my time with my baby. I loved it.

Simple supply and demand drove my production to supply enough for 4-5 full term babies a day! I found out about Tiny Treasures through online searches and went through the application process once my milk supply was well established (and my freezers were bursting). I

t was a quick process, and I was excited to be able to join the team in order to share my milk with the tiniest of humans fighting for survival!

Since joining, I have met several mothers who have used Prolacta's products with their infants in order to ensure their baby thrives. It's such an amazing feeling to know you helped those babies. My biggest milestone would probably be hitting 16 months postpartum recently and still pumping! I've been able to donate over 35,000 oz both to Tiny Treasures, to mothers local to me, as well as continuing to give my daughter liquid gold every day."
