For Mother’s Day this year, we invited our donors to share their stories as mothers and donors. We hope their stories and tips can make a difference for other donor moms!

Jacqueline M's Donor Story

"Hello, My name is Jackie and I have two boys. I would like to start of by saying thank you for allowing me to be part of such a wonderful experience and help save little lives. I feel truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful company. It makes me so happy to know that together we are making a difference and to me, it is more then just being able to provide for my family but about helping other families who are going through the whole preemie experience since my family and I experienced it too with my little one. He was born at 31 weeks and weighed 3.6 pounds. He was such a tiny little guy. Being at the NICU for his first 5 weeks was the hardest thing I have experienced as a mother. The hospital was so forceful about giving Elijah milk fortifier and supplementing, but I stuck to my guns and told them no. The first 3 days all I got was drops not even 1 ounce of breast milk. But when that liquid gold hit , it came like a storm. While at the hospital I managed to pump the first 3 weeks, for a total of 3,457 ounces. The nurses would joke about me feeding the whole NICU. That's when one of the nurses told me about this company and how they help preemies. The rest writes itself. Now my little guy is a chunky monkey and can't get enough. On February of this year, we hit our goal of one year. We was so proud since the first 6 weeks he was on a feeding tube an the next 3 months he would only take pumped milk. At 5 months is when he finally latched and we started our breastfeeding journey. This truly has open my eyes to a different world and has encourage me to be a breastfeeding advocate. So far I have help 3 other donors become donors and have given out information to pregnant woman that I meet about and share how awesome this company is and what it does for our future babies. And advice for new donors, don't be afraid to call or email with questions. The employees that work for these milk banks are the sweetest people on Earth. They are extremely helpful and caring. No question is too small or weird. Trust me, I have came across some weird questions to ask and they never have made me feel uncomfortable. Be prepared to have the best journey of your life. Knowing that my hard work is going to a loving family who is grateful is what keeps me pumping in the middle of the night. Thank you for reading a little piece of my life."
