Jasmine W's Story

"My name is Jasmine. I'm 25 and in a happy relationship with my wonderful boyfriend, Josh. We are first time parents to a beautiful 5 month old son named Jericho.

My biggest obstacle becoming a mom was breastfeeding. My son had jaundice at birth and had to be in the NICU for three days. I pumped for him and he was fed with bottles when I couldn't be there to breastfeed.

Since then, we had the hardest time with breastfeeding and I had to admit it wasn't going to be possible to strictly breastfeed.

But I take pride in knowing that every time I pumped, he was getting the best nutrition that I can offer him. I also take pride in knowing all my excess is helping mom's or premature babies feel the same way.

My proudest breast milk donor milestone was accumulating 3,500 ounces of breast milk to give to premature babies in need, and continuing to donate. My best advice for moms beginning their journey is to not give up, and to look at the bigger picture. No matter what struggles you are facing, they will pass and you will get through a better and more wise mom."
