Daniela T's story

"My name is Daniela Thompson and I have been married to my husband, Richard, for 5 years now. We have a 4 year old daughter, Molly, and a 15 month old son, Richard. The biggest obstacle I overcame as a mom was raising my daughter the first 8 months of her life without my husband because he was in the army and was deployed to Afghanistan when she was born.

It was a struggle for me, not only because I was a first time mom on my own, but shortly after Molly was born, my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and had to go through several surgeries and aggressive chemo treatments. I also struggled with breastfeeding as I didn't have all the knowledge that I do now and was only able to breastfeed her for six months.

When I had my son three years later, I was blessed enough to not only breastfeed him successfully for over a year and counting, but I had a great over supply that I was able to donate to those babies in need! The proudest moment of my donating journey was when I sent off my first boxes.

It was such an accomplishment to be able to give to those who were struggling and very much needed my milk! The best advice I would give to new donors is to keep your head up. It's not an easy journey and things do get tough, but when you feel overwhelmed, just keep thinking of what a wonderful gift you are giving those little babies! I'm proud to call myself a Tiny Treasures donor!"
